Golden Pavilion in winter

Golden Pavilion (Kinkaku-ji) was founded in 1397 as Zen temple (the formal name is  Rokuon-ji).

Usually, we Japanese have little appreciation for the brilliant style like this temple, but many Japanese is much interested in so far as Kinkaku-ji.

Not only Golden Pavilion, you should watch the garden around the pavilion. The garden was made based on Zen's thought.

For your information, the present golden pavilion was reconstructed in 1955 after had fired on purpose by a trainee monk
(this historical fact was described in the novel "Kinkaku-ji" by Mishima Yukio).
